Inclusion Strategy
At Heald Place Primary School, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to ensuring that every child feels valued, safe, supported and able to succeed, regardless of their individual needs, abilities or background.
Our Inclusion Strategy (2026–2029) reflects our belief that every child can achieve when barriers to learning are identified early and the right support is provided. Communication and language, reading, positive relationships and a strong sense of belonging underpin our inclusive approach.
What is Inclusion?
Inclusion means ensuring that every pupil can access high-quality teaching, participate fully in school life, develop positive relationships and achieve their potential.
At Heald Place, we recognise that equality does not always mean providing the same support for every child. We adapt our teaching, environments and provision to ensure that all pupils have the opportunities and support they need to thrive.
Our Approach
Our strategy is built around seven key principles of inclusion:
Inclusive leadership: Strong leadership and governance that place inclusion at the centre of school improvement.
Early identification: Identifying needs promptly through assessment, observation, family partnerships and specialist advice.
High-quality teaching: Adaptive teaching, communication-rich classrooms, explicit vocabulary instruction and a strong focus on reading.
Equal opportunities: Removing barriers so that every child can participate in learning, enrichment and wider school experiences.
Belonging and wellbeing: Creating safe, nurturing and respectful environments where children feel understood, valued and included.
Working together: Building strong partnerships with families, external professionals and support services.
Continuous improvement: Regularly reviewing provision, accessibility and outcomes to ensure that our approaches make a difference.
